csgo ranks

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) is the most famous multi-player shooter game. It is all about making solid strategies to win against your opponents. CS:GO players compete to win, and the winners get high in the ranking system.

In order to get ranked in the leaderboard of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the players have to play games for practice purposes. These games are from the unracked matches and include names like Deathmatch, Demolition, and many more. By playing such unranked matches, players reach level two of the CS: GO.

After playing unranked matches and achieving level two, the game ranking system will place those players in a rank from a list of ranks. There are multiple rank systems. In our guide, CS: Go fans will learn about the ranking system, the total number of ranks, and how the CS: GO ranking system works.

CSGO Ranks

In the CS:GO multiplayer shooter game, ranking is divided into six different levels. Furthermore, each level contains three further levels, which make it a total of 18.  The six levels are;

  • Silver
  • Gold Nova
  • Guardian
  • Eagle
  • Supreme Master First Class
  • Global Elite

Players who play unranked matches then, such players will be placed in any of the first four CS GO ranks only. To climb further in the leaderboard, they have to compete for it. This means that the two levels, i.e., Supreme Master First Class and Global Elite, are not assigned to new players.

To earn a place in these two levels or ranks, CS:GO players have to fight and play for it. Below is the list of all complete ranks of the CS: GO multiplayer shooter game. The rank at the top of the list is the highest, and the final in the list is the lowest ranking in CS:GO.

How does The CS:GO Ranking System Work?

New players to the Competitive playlist will first have to win 10 games before they get ranked. This will place them in one of the counter strike ranks listed above, and many will most likely skip the first couple of low ranks.

Fresh players, after the introductory games, have to participate and win at least 10 games before they enter the full ranking system. After winning 10 games (minimum), players will be placed into any of the eighteen counter strike ranks listed above. However, this ranking is not solely against winning 10 games; other factors affect the CS: GO ranking system.

CS: GO uses a modified Glicko-2 ranking system, which provides hidden options for ranking high in the system. This system looks at the player’s performance during the game. This system is called matchmaking rating (MMR).

MMR evaluates the ranking of player depending on their game performance. If a player during match performs badly during the match, then they will get lower CS GO ranks. On the other hand, winning a series of matches will increase your chances of ranking high and becoming the leader of the leaderboard.

CS:GO does not disclose how the ranking changes. For example, players have yet to learn when their rank will change and how many matches they need to win before going up in the ranking system. There are chances if your match-winning number remains steady, and you will remain in the same rank. But as a player, if the player takes a break from playing the matches, then their rank will get suspended until they start playing again and win up to 10 games.

What are CSGO Ranks?

CSGO match ranks measure the player’s overall skill set level. The Elo rating system is implemented in CS GO, which is a common ranking system in chess and other identical games. New players get a default rank of Silver l. Based on their match wins, they go up in the ranking system, and by defeat, they get de-ranked.

Can I lose my CS: GO rank?

Yes, CS GO ranks are not permanent. Players get ranked or drank based on their match activity. For example, if you stay inactive and do not play matches, you lose your CS GO ranks. To get all csgo ranks back, players have to play and win certain games.

The purpose of the CS GO ranking system is to keep the players active and engaged on the platform. To avoid the CS GO rank decay, players have to compete in one competitive match per month.
