iPad vs. Galaxy Tab: are tablets necessary? And which one is better?

Tablets experienced an enormous boom a few years ago, but the market stagnated slightly. While experts were already predicting the end of such devices, Apple developed new iPads with an M1 chip and thus brought the industry back to life. At the same time, Samsung also upgraded its tablets both optically and technically, and the gadget became a definite trend again. But does someone who already has a laptop and a cell phone also need a tablet? And if so, which one is better?

Reasons for a tablet

Firstly, tablets are more mobile than laptops. They’re smaller, handier, and lighter, and they don’t take up as much space in your bag and on your office desk or university bench as a laptop does. Nevertheless, the large screen offers enough space. In addition, using a computer and tablet simultaneously is practical in many situations.

For example, during homeschooling, using two devices allows you to listen to the lecture on the laptop, and at the same time, you can open the uploaded slides on the tablet and write notes in the margin with a tablet pen. This enables perfect participation in class and thus an ideal absorption of the material being taught. Furthermore, there are countless apps for tablets that can be used to support learning.

Of course, a tablet also offers a lot of potential for usage in leisure time. The large, user-friendly screen is ideal for playing games, both at home and on the way. Various gaming apps, for instance, make it possible to fill a long ride on the train with a lot of fun and excitement.

The selection of providers is almost endless. Next to European games, one can enjoy online gaming in games from Thailand and with suppliers from many other countries. Comparison portals like Asiabit help to maintain an overview and select the optimal online games. The portals present a list of the best providers with good conditions, attractive bonus offers and a reputable game license.

Thus, tablets are not only the ideal companions for pupils and students and simplify business at work but also provide fun and action in leisure time. Another advantage of the tablet is the enormously long battery life. Most tablets run for about ten hours, depending on the type of use, which a laptop can hardly manage. Furthermore, tablets are much cheaper. A tablet costs around 300 Euros, while good laptops mostly start at 600 Euros. In addition, tablets combine several functions in one device; unlike notebooks, they also have a camera. Accordingly, there are many reasons to buy a tablet.

Which device is better?

There are a few factors to consider in the high-end duel between iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S8+. Outwardly, at least, both models hardly differ from each other. The iPad Pro is slightly bigger with its 12.9″ than the Galaxy Tab S8+ with 12.4″. Both tablets have a somewhat angular design.

However, the first big difference is felt in the display. Even though Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8+ is an outstanding display with AMOLED technology, 120 Hz, and 2800 × 1752 pixels, Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR display is even more convincing. HDR content is displayed with unprecedented precision, and black levels are hardly better despite the lack of OLED technology. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is the most robust Android tablet in terms of performance.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 hardly suffers any performance losses and is prepared for almost every task. However, the iPad Pro is equipped with an M1 chip which is currently the best chip to be found. As a result, the iPad Pro has better performance power. Both pens are ingenious, but Samsung includes them directly, whereas the iPad requires an extra charge.

The camera quality is high in both products, but the iPad is also superior. However, the device costs about 300 Euros more than the Samsung tablet. Overall, you cannot go wrong with both devices. The Tab S8+ already belongs to high-end products and is available for a reasonable price. However, those who want the top class in all disciplines and are willing to spend a bit more money will instead be happy with the iPad Pro.
