Due to the high number of spammy emails from Microsoft 365 connections, the AT&T email servers are blocking connections. For the last 24 hours, AT&T users have complained about not receiving emails from Microsoft 365 servers.
The issue occurred on three domain names, including @att.com, @bellsouth.com, and AT&T’s @sbcglobal.net email providers. Once Microsoft 365 users try to send emails on these three TLDs, the connection fails to deliver the email, and AT&T customers are not notified that the email cannot be delivered.
The email detail page shows a message, shown in the figure below.
From Monday, 13th of May 2024, the AT&T digital forums are filled with threads complaining about the email issue.
Although the issue is related to Microsoft 365 emails, looking at the replies on the company’s official forum, it seems like Gmail servers are also affected by this issue. According to confirmation from AT&T authorities, the issue is due to the high volume of spam occurring from Microsfoft’s email servers.
The delay is temporary, and they are working on the issue. The AT&T spokesperson told online forums that the issue is industry-wide and might have affected other email services besides Microsoft’s main affectees.
AT&T wants their customers to be patient and wait for some more time. The email blockage is for the end user’s safety. Microsoft and Google are working on some high measures where they are trying to tackle spam email issues.
